There are over 800 species of ticks and they are known to transmit diseases such as Lyme disease and Powassan. Neither humans nor animals are immune to tick bites. In addition to being wingless, they can travel up to several kilometers on their host or by crawling.

Tick bites are harmless most of the time, but they can also carry harmful diseases such as Lyme disease, which causes a bullseye pattern rash as well as flu-like symptoms. Untreated, it can be fatal.
